Councilman Roy Christensen over the past four years has worked to improve Lincoln’s quality of life. He has fought for greater transparency, more efficient delivery of city services and a stronger sense of community. Roy has not been afraid to ask the hard questions and tackle tough issues while also taking time to listen to the community and working to build solutions that keep Lincoln moving forward. During his time on the council, he has spearheaded the City’s Engineering Services Task Force, promoted Compressed Natural Gas StarTran buses and has served on the Railroad Transportation Safety District and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
As the owner of Christensen Audiology & Hearing Aid Center, Roy knows the challenges small business owners face every day. His business experience is invaluable on the city council where he has worked to bring new, good paying jobs to Lincoln and ensure the city has the infrastructure to continue to grow.
Roy earned his B.S. in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Northern Arizona University and his M.S. in Audiology from Idaho State University.
Roy is a decorated army veteran who has served in the U.S. Army-Medical Services Corps, including tours of duty in Germany and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland. He earned multiple commendations including the U.S. Army Commendation Award (2), U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal (2) and U.S. Expert Field Medical Badge.
Roy and his wife Ramiel have seven children and ten grandchildren with another on the way. Roy is a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Independent Business Association, Nebraska Hearing Society, American Academy of Audiology and the International Hearing Society.
